tis the season
I’ve noticed a trend on other blogs.
So not to be outdone, allow me to contribute to the lovely Christmasy moments exhibited everywhere else.
I mean, even my brother’s blog is snowing.
So because it’s the season and all that, I was inspired to bake.
Imagine my utmost delight and pride when I pulled these things out of the oven.
just call me mrs. fields
And just like a good elf, I busied myself with scraping.
I turned up the Christmas carols a little louder so as to drown out the sounds of the knife scraping the flattened dough off the cookie sheet.
Very special Christmas cookies call for something a little more…specialized then a spatula, you know.
And look, now aren’t they just gorgeous?
you're welcome, santa
I’d leave you the recipe on my recipe blog, but that would require me actually having a recipe blog. And I don’t know how many different recipes I can write that involve peanut butter, saltines, or edamame anyway.
But as you can imagine, I’ve really had to beat off my family from devouring all of them in order to save some for Santa.
Merry Christmas.
Now go make some cookie scrapings of your own while you contemplate the reason for the season.

Oh my gosh, Jessica. I didn’t think it was possible to love you more, but I do. I DO!!!!! This is why we get along so well. This, right here.
Also, I think they’re beautiful, and they were probably delicious. You wouldn’t have blogged about regular cookies. And if you did, it wouldn’t be as fun!
yes, we do get along famously…and they do actually taste pretty good. though because of how they look, I am the ONLY one who can attest to that fact:)
They were still delicious!
oh you had some scrapings? I didn’t know! Perhaps I should start marketing them: Santa’s Scrapings.
Remember the tartlets of yesteryear?
now that sounds like a beautiful lyric to a lovely christmas carol that just begs to be written.
Maybe Santa could keep his scrapings in some Reindeer Receptacles.
but then Counselor Pop will tell him to turn his Receptacles off when it gets too late.
save me one.
girl, you can have the whole plate!
Boo, it is 3:31 am in New York City, and I can’t sleep. I just logged onto your blog, and now I’m STARVING! LOL Thanks, time to raid the fridge!!!!! MISS YOU!
“Santa’s Scrapings”- I love it. Hilarious!
Oh my goodness, I had to read the whole post to find out those were cookies
I thought maybe you made latkes for Hanukkah because well, they looked more like pancakes than cookies – but it is the taste that counts! And Santa gets Regular cookies at every house so giving him cookie scrapings would probably be very special for him!! Happy baking!
and happy hanukkah, my dear!!!! (I wish I could make latkes!)
I think they look tasty cause they look buttery and buttery is my favorite.
They are super buttery!
yep, mer–totally buttery!
Jess, cookies are cookies no matter how you shape, lump or scrape them!!
this is true! though I think a career in baking is probably out the window…:-(
But you would corner the market on “Santa’s Scrapings”…I bet no one else would think of that.
;-]
Jess, you and Mrs. Fields have made better things in your day, I can attest to that : ) I think you are a good baker…although when we would make cookes, I couldn’t keep myself from “fixing” the lumps of dough you would plop down. I always tried to do it discreetly because it felt more like a compulsion than anything that really needed to be done : )
lol, christine–I had no idea! we should make cookies together again really soon! (and I’ll let you fix the lumps, promise).
