mugging for the camera.

Yesterday some of my nieces and one nephew came over and I was inspired to find a sheet, pin it to my parents’ wall, and have an impromptu photo shoot.

Well, it wasn’t that impromptu, I guess. I texted my brother about a half hour before he dropped off the kids, telling him to tell his girls to bring their cameras.

And once Judah, my three year old adorable nephew caught wind of what was about to happen, he insisted that they bring some dress up clothes for him too.

The girls were just gonna raid my closet, but that’s a little harder for a three year old boy to do.

So he came equipped.
With dresses.
Of his own to use for the event.

Love. That. Kid.

Because we took about a gazillion pictures, I’ve had quite a hard time narrowing them down to show you. It was too hard, actually. Meaning that I probably didn’t narrow down as well as I could have and ended up downloading a bunch.

So in an effort to not keep you here too long, I am going to give myself some structure. I am allowing myself one sentence per photograph. I know what you’re all thinking: Can she do it?!?!

Watch me.
…deep breath…and GO.

Although I will take pictures of my smallest nephew in a dress, I promise you I am not naked here; I do have some sense of decency, for crying out loud.

Charis’ name means grace and I think you can see here why it fits her so well.

I love that nobody told this kid to pop her heel up in a bevel, Selah is just that good.

Cosette sits under a blue umbrella and on top of a wooden stool and in the middle of those two things is just about one of the sweetest little creatures around.

Every once in a while, it does happen: words fail me and so I laugh instead.

I felt like a celebrity, what with both Charis and Selah snapping pics at me from different angles.

Just about as perfect as you can find this side of heaven, I think.

Cosi is wearing little shorts but it’s easy to miss here and it looks more like I am the mean aunt who makes her pose for pictures with no pants on.

No, I don’t play the violin but I sure do one heck of a job at looking terrified while holding one.

Edvard Munch has nothing on this scream.

We finally convinced Judah to let us cover up his dress with a jacket and a pillow but you can still see the telltale signs of it peeking out from under his sleeves.

Big brown dreamy eyes under a hat that’s made for this weather’s best shot.

I love Jenna’s new umbrella because yellow instantly makes me happier and the polka dots aren’t bad either, not to mention the contrasting purple handle that reminds you it’s okay to be different.

.Demure and pretty and girlie and yes.

So it’s January, when everybody puts on their t-shirts and gloves to protect themselves against the elements, right?
