yes, that’s right, she bakes too. outside, no less.
So I got home today, and saw that my parents were hard at work on the kitchen floor doing this:
Which was a problem only because I had to bake a cake.
So my mom was all, “Don’t worry, there’s the great outdoors, you know. You can make your cake out there.”
To which I was like, you’ve gotta be joking. But I didn’t say that; instead, I just looked sort of like this:
But then I went outside, and looked like this for a while (and, here you get to see the shorts that my family loves to comment on. for some reason they find them short. I know, it makes no sense to me either):
(And I felt like I should get mad props for not only making a carrot cake from scratch, but making it outside, no less.)
And then I baked the cake.
In a clay oven, warmed by the sun.
Okay, just kidding about that part.
But I did bake it and ice it and all that jazz and it ended up looking like this:
And I think I finally have my new concept for the cooking show that I have been dreaming of hosting (what with all the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches I so expertly know how to craft).
Move over Rachel Ray, cause there’s a new girl in town and she’s got her Kitchen Aid and she knows how to use it and she uses it outside. Yes, that’s right, outside.
What.

SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!! It just reminds me again how you make the best of what comes in this life..and you still manage to look cute doing it!!!! i LOVE it!!! and the cake looks beautiful!!!!!
you’re so sweet, sare! but, I will say those sneakers that are unfortunately documented on here are NOT cute, not at all. But they are the only shoes I have that I can run in…so, I continue to wear them and smile real real big and hope nobody looks down at my feet.
My parents rule for my shorts was that as long I could bend over without showing booty, it was all good. Judging from the picture, you pass the test! And props to you for sure for, you totally had me going on clay oven!
well, I am quite glad that your parents, at least, would approve of my little green shorts.
and haha what if I HAD baked a cake in a clay oven–you better believe there’d at least be pictures to go along with that story:)
*The clay oven. Bummer.
Those candles are fantastic!!
aren’t they?!
but I can’t take the credit–those were added by my friend Christine.
Love this! Whose b-day were you celebrating with this wonderful out-of-home-made carrot cake (wit funky candles)?!
we were celebrating none other than the esteemed Josh Robinson’s birthday! worth every bit of the cake-making and more:)
That should be “with”, of course…I am not actually getting all slangy with you!
of course!
