I made a little video.

I guess it’s a music video, but only because it’s a video of me playing music.

Not because there’s back-up dancers or mirrors shattering in reverse or anything as exciting as that, unfortunately.

Anyway, enjoy.

And have a lovely week.

Hopefully, it’ll have more back-up dancers and mirrors shattering in reverse than this video does.

If you’re lucky.

this week in pictures.

So. I am not sure what, exactly, my room does while I’m gone, but sometimes when I get home it’s pretty messy. I will have to look into that. Tonight a friend invited me to a drawing party. I very excitedly arrived, couldn’t find him, and then very shyly decided to step outside and wait [...]

I mentioned to my friend Lindsay just last week that some of the best cupcakes in the world are in Georgetown. I mentioned that they are even worth a road trip. “Let’s do it!” she said, and she made good her word today. Because, you know, a lot of people talk about things and then [...]

One time I overheard my mom trying to use that old expression, “running around like a chicken with its head cut off.” And I know. It’s not the most poetic of our American idioms. But my mom failed to mention the chicken, and so she simply told someone that she was “running around with HER [...]

This has actually been a pretty good week, all things considered. I know, I know, WHAT? Before you make sure that you didn’t accidentally click on some pop-up add that whisked you away from thislifeinwriting.com faster than you could say the word emo, let me assure you: you haven’t left. And that’s what I said [...]

It’s 5 am, or close enough anyway, and I am still awake. Maddeningly so. Tossing and turning, like one more flop on this bed is going to land me in sleep. I am up, thinking of him. Wondering where he is, how he is, what he’s thinking right now, and how stupid it is that [...]

Irritating is when you get home from your eighth show of the week and the most creative thing you can think to do in terms of resting is laying in your freshly made bed complete with newly changed linens, thanks to the lovely maids at your hotel. You lay down for maybe a half hour [...]

On Tuesday, after having had more than a week off from the show and if I were to be totally honest, dealing with ribs that hadn’t healed yet, I was feeling…wonky. Weird in a leotard all over again. Trying to find my center. Wondering where the heck it was that I spotted when I did [...]

I really do enjoy the opening night parties. And tonight’s was a doozy. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and I guess the parties fall under that category too. A lamborghini and ferrari salesman here in Dallas is an apparent lover of theater as well, since he hosts all the touring shows that come [...]
